Compass Fitness Program

Most people are aware that children in developed nations are experiencing epidemic levels of obesity, and that this problem is, in large part, associated with physical inactivity. Facilitated by Eric Chessen of Autism Fitness, the Compass Fitness program is designed for participants to develop strength, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance and stamina in a fun group setting. Fitness activities are also an excellent outlet to help youth build social skills and self-esteem. Activities include weight training, circuit training, cardiovascular activities, group games and the importance of nutrition for optimal health.

Meets on Sundays from 2:15-3:15 at the Mid Island Y

Fee is $25 per session

Upcoming dates:

October 7, 21, 28
November 4, 11, 18, 25

Community Youth Leadership Council

The group will meet weekly on Wednesdays and monthly Sunday activities will be developed by the group to provide community service (and have some fun too!) and also to help promote inclusion of all people regardless of disability, race, religion, color, or national origin.

The first introductory meeting will be on Wednesday October 17th  at the Mid Island Y in Plainview from 6-7pm (in the white building at 45 Manetto Hill Road).
