JCCA has provided over 190 years of service in the tradition of tikkun olam--the responsibility of every person to make the world a better place. Along with meeting the needs of New York's vulnerable children and families of all religious, ethnic and racial backgrounds, JCCA is committed to providing services to Jewish children and their families.
JCCA's Services in the Jewish Community (SJC) division locates programs in communities where there is a density of Jewish children and families with unmet needs, so that we may further JCCA’s historic mission and ensure that these families also have access to agency services, along with the primarily non-Jewish children and families served in JCCA’s other divisions. Like all JCCA programs, those in the SJC division advertise to the entire community and welcome all, but are culturally sensitive to the participants. Nearly all of the programs in the SJC receive government funds, as the focus is on supporting at-risk youth and families through mental health, vocational, educational, and recreational programming which is culturally competent and meets the needs of diverse clientele, many of whom are immigrants and at particular risk.
